about

Recorded Jan 1, 2020, in our new apartment, where I've had to re-learn to embrace environmental noises, such as the phantom radio station (102.9 perhaps?) coming through the Ampeg at all times and the many outdoor urban intrusions requisite for a studio loft next to a Metro lot and a railyard in downtown Houston. In that spirit, I've left in microphone handling noise, mic glitches, wind noise, footsteps, and plenty of other artifacts.

I recorded a fleshed-out, pro-recorded version of "Waves" with Jerry DeCicca, Lisa Cameron and Ralph White last year. Hopefully it will see the light of day in 2020.

This recording is dedicated to Austin Thomerson, my first non-college roommate, who sold me a Sigma Heavy Stud (see track notes) back in the early '90s and who was gunned down out in Southwest Houston last November while attempting to foil a pawnshop robbery.
